Today marks the beginning of a new chapter. I am leaving home to live and work in the Maine woods, serving for the AmeriCorps. The work will be hard and the days will be long. I am nervous and excited to embark on this new adventure.
I must remind myself that this experience, like all experiences in life, should be received as a lesson. I have read, and grown to understand, that to live fully is to seek out opportunities to press up against personal boundaries and embrace discomfort.
Here’s to living simply and taking one day, if not one hour, at a time, and savoring those moments that normally pass unnoticed.
“ You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future … This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life. ”
